THE GREATEST GIFT

“Until one has loved an animal a part of ones soul remains unawakened.”
 ~Anatole France

If there is one thing you have gotten from my work or writing, I hope it’s that like us animals are souls first. They are souls who choose to come to this time and space to walk beside us as beloved companions. Through a mystical combination of fate, divine timing, intuition and sheer luck these souls end up right where they are supposed to be…with you.

Some animal companions are here to teach, others to heal, some simply offer a comic relief at the exact moment you need a smile. What each companion has in common is that s/he brings along the gift of unconditional love. This love can be seen in their eyes and felt in our hearts, It is made tangible in the precious sharing a part of their souls journey with you. The love and companionship given by your animal friends is an eternal gift that will forever be in your heart.

ALERT STAGES: UNDERSTANDING YOUR ANIMALS FIGHT OR FLIGHT RESPONSE

In my communication sessions I will sometimes talk to a client about theiranimal companion's sensory experience. I do this to help them become aware that while they are sharing an experience with their companion, their experience is not the same as their companions due to the advanced capability of his or her senses. For example; a horse can hear sounds up to 4km away. If you are trial riding with your horse, he or she could easily experience and react to a sound that you can not hear.

When speaking of you animals experience and their level of reaction to the experience during an intuitive communication session I like to explain it as three stages or levels of alert.

YELLOW ALERT: Yellow alert is as close to your companions normals state of being. At this level your companion may be experiencing minor stress, and is able to connect with you and engage in activities.

ORANGE ALERT: Your companion moves from yellow to orange alert when additional stressors are added to their experience. For example: your companion is interacting with you in a crowded show ring and they are in yellow alert and mostly comfortable. Then loud music begins playing and your companion is sensitive to loud noises, the added stress puts your animal in a higher alert state. At this stage your animal is still able to connect with you but much less focused and may appear agitated.

RED ALERT:  This is the last level of alert before your animal companions flight or fight response is triggered. When your companion is in red alert you will see extreme stress signs anxiety even aggressive behaviors. In red alert the question is not will your animal's flight or fight response be triggered but when.

It is important to be aware of your companion moving through these stage of alertness because you want to be able to give him or her information via in-the-moment-message-sending, a technique outlined in previous newsletters as well as in my book, Beyond Companionship. You may also want to employ a positive training tool or technique before the flight or fight instinctual response is triggered. The higher up the level of alert your animal is experiencing less effective any method of connecting you try will be.  Once the flight or flight switch has been flipped on your animal is only reacting and will not be able to connect with you in a conscious or controlled way until the adrenaline has moved through his or her system and s/he has calmed down.

It is important to be consciously aware of these different levels of alert, and what is feels like in the for both you and your companion as s/he moves through them. Use your awareness of these different stages going forward as a tool to improve your level of connectivity.  The hustle and bustle of the holidays is often stressful for companion animals and will be a perfect time to practice awareness of your companions level of alertness.

Spirit Animals; Adorn with Intention

I'm an animal communicator, I love animals.

I'm spiritual, I love spirit as well as the magical, and mystical.

I'm a girl,  so I love a little sparkle too .

When Tiny Devotions had the genus to combine these loves of mine in their spirit animal bracelet line I got so excited I had to add it share it with you.

What you might ask does jewelry have to do with a more conscious way of BE-ing?

Everything when you make it intentional!

I still remember the first piece of intentional jewelry.  I was shopping at a new age store in my home town when I was drawn to the vibe a Herkimer Diamond necklace in the jewelry case. At this time I had just begun to communicate with animals so it was no surprise when I looked up this crystals purpose and one of its properties was enhancing communication with animals. Are you hearing the twilight zone theme song.... LOL.

Thus, began my fondness for stones,  and their vibes.

Fast forward 7 years to my current fascination with Tiny Devotions and their spirit animal bracelets.  Its really rather simple, I'm jazzed about the vibe. You see, the crystals used to make these spirit animal bracelets are in resonance with the animal spirit they represent. I will use the starfish for an example because that is the animal spirit I got when I took the spirit animal quiz on the Tiny Devotions website.

The starfish spirit animal bracelet is made up of sandalwood, peach moonstone, kuzite, and moonstone. Here is the description of the stones properties from the Tiny Devotions website. "Sandalwood is a very calm and tranquil sacred material. It is perfect for meditating + intention setting. It gives off a soothing scent that is known to attract positive energy and clear perception. Peach Moonstone is an intuitive stone that fosters success, clear thinking, and emotional stability. Perfect for those looking to achieve their dreams. Kunzite is the stone of emotion, opening the heart and connecting the mind to stimulate a joyful, powerful and pure healing connection. Moonstone is known as the stone of dreams + energy. Moonstone is said to encourage hope, as well as enhance intuition."

All that energy in one bracelet! My inner goddess swoons and I am loving the vibe!

Gifting Connection & Communication to People and Pets this Holiday.

Tis the season for gifting and my Conscious Companions Gift Giving Guide last month was so popular I want to blog about two ways you can gift connection and communication to an animal lover in your life.

The first gift is an animal communication session with me. During an intuitive animal communication session I connect with the animal through a sharing of energy. Animals communicate through feelings, pictures, words, and knowings. My intuition guides me through these communications and receives message from the animal for their person. Just as important I am able to give message to the animal from their person so they can move into a place of unified understanding. By gifting an intuitive animal communication session you will enrich the relationship between the recipient and their animal companion forever changing their lives.

The second gift is a deck of my Conversation Cards. I created this deck of 33 cards as a fun, easy way for anyone (yes, anyone, any age, even you.) to recieve messages from their animal companion(s).  Each card in the set has two animal quotes from one of my enlightening communication sessions giving your recipient the opportunity awaken and explore his or her own intuitions. Included with each set are easy to use guide cards to aid users in forging new connections with their animal friends. I also have a fun YouTube video showing how to work with the cards.

The animals we share our live with want to share their love through connection and communication, this is the perfect way to #giftlove

THE CALM OF LAVENDER

Using the Calm of Lavender with Your Companion.

Guest Blogger | Wendi Ell

One of the most widely-used and effective essential oils, beneficial for pets such as cats, dogs and horses, is Lavender essential oil. It can be used for a variety of reasons, but is most commonly used for its calming properties.

Our pets are highly sensitive to aromatherapy and can benefit simply by capturing the airborne molecules to their olfactory system. While dogs can detect smells 50,000 times greater than our own, cats have an even more acute sense of smell. Horses, with their keen sensibility and intuition, oftentimes self-medicate by drawing in the molecules through each nostril individually, sending it to different systems within their body.

Keeping in mind that certain essential oils can be a bit overwhelming to pets, it is necessary to respect the nose space and "ask" first before forcing Lavender at their snouts. Hold the bottle with the cap on and ask your pet to come closer, allowing them to reach toward it, presenting the scent on terms they can handle and are comfortable with. Since they won’t know what to expect at first, It sometimes takes extra time or multiple tries to decide, but you should see clear signs either way. For dogs, subtle acceptance signs include licking the air, presenting a paw, lying down or being submissive. Horses show signs of approval by closing their eyes, dropping the head, chewing, reaching or sometimes grabbing the bottle. While cats, on the other hand, approve simply by not running the other direction.
Harley

I introduced Lavender to our American Mastiff, Harley (pictured right) because of her understandable insecurity issues after coming to us, as we were her third home.  With obvious traits of Anatolian Shepherd, we quickly discovered she wasn’t the typical laid-back, aloof mastiff – always on high guard, overly protective and easily allowed situations to escalate. The calming properties of Lavender essential oil absorb quickly, and help her maintain composure and control her anxiety levels in certain situations.

Even though she is an extra large dog, only a small dab is needed, transferred to the underside webbing of each of her paws and on the tips of her ears. Harley loves Lavender essential oil so much that she insists on licking my hands clean before we’re done. Applying Lavender can be done with smaller dogs, too, by first diluting with a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil (liquid) or organic extra virgin olive oil.

Other beneficial uses of Lavender essential oil include grief, stress, minor skin irritations, surgery incisions, seasonal irritations, bug bites, bruising and muscle stiffness. If you are new to essential oils and pets, do your homework first – research proper dilution methods and learn which essential oils should be avoided altogether. And remember, quality and purity is the key to safe use and effective results.

For questions, more information or to purchase pure essential oils, visit my EIEIEOs – Essential Oils for Animals page on Facebook.

I am thankful to be a part of your life.

                        ~ your companion

I am thankful to be apart of your life was one of my June 2015, weekly sentiments of love and inspiration from the animals we share our lives. Every now and again I elaborate on one of these animal messages for this blog.

Animals are sentient beings meaning they have the ability to feel a range of emotions. The joy and love expressed by your companion when you walk through your front door, or barn door should leave you in do doubt of your companions ability to experience emotions.  One feeling that tops the list feelings conveyed to me during communication sessions with animal companions is gratitude.  Apart from asking me to thank their person for the opportunity to connect and communicate via intuitive animal communication, there are three appreciations that continually top the list of gratitudes expressed by the animals I connect with.

1.)  Appreciation for the love and kindness they receive.

2.)  Appreciation for the being a part of your life. Your animal companion delight in being a part of your family.

3.)  Appreciation for the efforts they see their person making on their behalf. Your animal companion sees, hears and feels you. S/he knows the effort you put in.

Words of love and gratitude appear frequently in my weekly messages from the animals we share our lives with because while you can get to see and feel the love and gratitude of your animal companion in your daily interactions with him or her, it is nice to hear.

Using communication to help with healing an animals trauma.

The kind of people who would hurt or harm animals are thankfully not the kind of people who are going to spend their time and money on an intuitive communicator. However, I do work with animals who have been rescued from any number of situations from abuse to neglect and communication can be a powerful tool for healing.  Giving messages as well as listening and allowing an animal to the share their experience offer opportunities for relief and healing.

It is almost indescribable the instantaneous shift that takes place when you tell a rescued animal that he or she is in his or her forever home, that s/he is welcome, loved and that their safety and well-being is important to the people around them. Those of you who have read my book Beyond Companionship  Connecting with Kindred Souls of Animal Companions have read the story of Pierre the Papillon. Pierre was emotionally and physically inaccessible after being rescued by his person. He had no idea how to bond with a human. Pierre distance was upsetting to his new owner who only wanted to love him. She couldn't even touch Pierre without him screaming and shaking. It was not until I shared with him how welcomed, loved and safe he was in his new home that he began to open up. Pierre is no longer living in a state of fear and he and his person are the best of friends. If you want to know how you can send a message that will instantly shift the energy of your animals experience check out my blog: Acknowledgment: An instant energy shifter for the conscious companion.

The sharing a traumatic or upsetting experience is extremely cathartic for animals just as it is for humans. Not only does this sharing allow the animal to get the experience off his or her chest so to speak, it gives the animals current caretaker information and insights that can help him or her to begin to create the positive experiences needed for the animal to begin healing.  If you are aware that your companion has had a bad or even traumatic experience before coming to you invite him or her to share that experience with you. One way to do that is before you go to bed bring your companion into the forefront of your consciousness. Then ask him or her to come to you in your dreams share with you anything s/he wants you to know about his or her life before coming to you.  Keep a pen and paper next to your bed so you can record any thoughts or feelings you have upon waking. If you are not sure you are ready to connect in this way, or you feel the need to confirm the messages you are receiving  you can always book a session with an animal communicator.

Seeing first the the profound impact sharing their story has on an animals inspired my hearts calling to work with abused Elephants. I have always been passionate about Elephants and a few years back I stumbled across Boon Lott's Elephant Sanctuary in Thailand. The tourist industry in Thailand is to these majestic beings and when they come to sanctuary they get to live out their lives in peace. If you click on the sanctuary's name you can see the stories of how the elephants came to be there. It is a dream of mine to go and live with these beautiful beings and give each elephant a day or two to personally there their story with me. I then hope to turn their stories into a book donating 100% of the proceeds back support their sanctuary. If you feel inclined I ask that you to hold the vision of this experience with me, thank you!

Intuition, your 6th sense or your 1st?

Scrolling through my twitter feed and I saw a post from Colette Baron Reid that said, "Intuition is your first sense not your 6th." This spoke directly to my belief we are soul first, person second.  This was the first time I had ever seen/heard our sense's talked about in this fashion and I completely agree.  As an intuitive animal communicator you know I am a fan of intuition. So much so that my company name and website address is IntuitionsLLC. Intuition is in the forefront of my experience every day and I'm telling you now friends Intuition is a soul thing.  All your other senses are about your physical experience but your intuition connects you with everything, and everyone even the Divine.

Aware of it or not you are tapped in and you will always intuit before you see, hear, smell, taste, or touch, no matter what your experience. This is something you have in common with the animals in your life.  Your animal is soul first, animal second. S/he is also always intuiting first making his or her seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching all secondary experiences of the moment. Knowing and understanding that your animal companion seances your energy or "feels" you first and sees/ hears/etc, second has such a profound impact on how you connect and communicate I have dedicated a whole chapter to it in my next book!

meme from Tiny Devotions
Fogy, cloudy miscommunication between you and your animal companions happens when what you are trying to communicate via words, body language etc is out of alinement with the information your companions is "feeling" from you. I promise you are not the only animal lover that has miscommunications with their companion. If you were I would be selling magic wands to kids at Harry Potter world in Florida instead of working as a professional animal communicator.  We have learned to let our intuition take a back seat your senses. Our other senses are tangible and intuitions are not. That makes your intuitions easy to dismiss. Conscious companions it's time we learn something new and give intuition is rightful position as our 1st sense.

As you continue to expand into conscious companionship with your animal companion(s), I invite you periodically stop and become aware of what you are giving your animal companion to work with. Consider the energy you are you bringing into the space and interactions you are sharing with your companion and remember that your animal companion is sensing and "feeling" you first.  Like the meme I stole from Tiny Devotions says slow down, and notice the energy you are bringing into the moment. Your companion with thank you!

I will be debuting workshops and webinars early in 2016 designed to help you start using your intuition as 1st sense, as well as aligning your energetic expression to ensure your companion is getting the right message. Sign up for my monthly newsletter and weekly messages from your animal companion to keep informed about all my projects!

Acknowledgment: An Instant Energy Shifter for the Conscious Companion.

Early in my career as an Intuitive Animal Communicator I made acknowledging the experience of the animal a central part of my communication sessions. When I prefaced the messages and information I was sending to an animal with an acknowledgement of his or her current experience, I would instantly whiteness a notable change in the level of receptiveness and responsiveness from the animal.  I could actually feel an opening in the animals chakras particularity the heart, throat and solar plexus chakras. If your not sure  what I mean by that, equate it to feeling like a weight has been lifted off of your shoulders. Moved by these heartfelt interactions sprung from acknowledgment, I began to coach clients in the conscious act of acknowledging their companions experience as a common practice.

Not only does this practice deepen your level of connectivity enriching the relationship you share with your animal companion, it instantly shifts the energy of any interaction by opening a channel for understanding, ease, and empathetic responses to flow between you and your companion. The simplicity of the act of acknowledgment makes it easy for you to do yourself in-the-moment, helping you manage your companions understanding, stress level, anxiety, focus, and workability in a training situation.

To acknowledge your companions experience you must first bring yourself fully into the present moment and become aware of his or her experience.  Engaging your senses including your intuition or sixth sense can help you shift your awareness to the present moment.  Going through a short check list of what your companion is seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting, and even being aware of any impressions or thoughts that are popping into your mind, will help clue you into what your companions current experience is.

Once you are aware of your companions experience its time to send your message of acknowledgment. I tell my clients to verbalize their acknowledgment. In my experience people new to acknowledging their companion in this conscious way feel more confident about their animal receiving the acknowledgment when it is said out loud. I believe this is because spoken words have an intentional and affirming quality about them.

Now that you have instantly shifted the energy of your interaction with your companion by acknowledging to the best of your ability his or her experience, this would be the perfect time to employ in-the-moment-message sending, positive training techniques, or a combination of both. When you follow an instant energy shift with information or positive training techniques, you are giving your animal companion what s/he needs to begin working in collaboration with you co-creating the kind of experience you want to have with him or her.

Acknowledgment Examples:
-I can tell this is one of your favorite things to do.
-I see your feeling anxious.
-I know the vet makes you uncomfortable. (In-the-moment-message-following, if you are paitent and calm this won't take long.)
-I see your effort, thank you.
-I am aware that you are physically not feeling well. (In-the-moment-message-following, Your health and well-being are a priority to me. I am going to do all I can to get you better.)
-You are paying a lot of attention to that other animal. I see s/he is making you anxious. (In-the-moment-message-following, I need you to give me your focus and attention for X amount of time.)

Leave your questions in the comments, I am happy to support you on your journey to a more conscious way of being with your animal friends!

ANIMAL COMMUNICATION: HOW DO I GET ALL THE INFORMATION?

Oftentimes during a session I will say to a client, "Your animal is not telling me this but  I need to tell you...." I do this because not every piece of information I share during a communication session comes directly from the animal I am communicating with. I do use telepathy to converse with animals, but as an intuitive when put my attention and focus on the energetic expression or soul-self of an animal I get a download of information. Thoughts, feelings, pictures, words and knowings are all included in this download. In my experience what you need to know is always there weather it comes directly from the animal or divine wisdom.

Occasionally when a client is setting up their first session they will express concern that their animal companion won't want to talk, or won't have anything to say. I have also worked with clients worried that their companion might be emotionally reserved or blocking information from them. In these instances I assure them that the information they need to know will come through no matter how talkative or reserved their companion might be. While a  verbal exchanging of messages is the foundation of animal communication, intuition,  and tapping into the truths and knowings of divine wisdom or universal knowledge (Made up of a combination of energy frequencies, not just the animals.) makes for an all encompassing connection and communication experience. One where if things are interpreted correctly things don't get left out. I say interpreted because while intuitive communication is Divine, it is not perfect, as with any form of communication there is always room for misinterpretation.

Getting messages from animals and tapping into universal knowledge is easy the easy part of being an intuitive animal communicator.  The real work is sifting through all the thoughts, words, pictures, feelings and knowings being received and interpreting it into messages the animal's person will understand and connect with.  Animal communication is as much about connecting and communicating with the animals person as is is about connecting and communicating animal.  In this respect I have always been thankful for my degree in social work and my passion for working with people.

3 TIPS FOR GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR SESSION

1. Be Open
If you go into a communication session with your companion closed minded with ridged expectations you're walling your self off to everything your animal has to offer via connection and communication.  Be open, even if your a little skeptical or unsure I promise if you open your heart and mind to connection and communication with your companion you will have an enriching experience.

2. Have Intention
I'm all about intentional living. As a communicator when I do a communication session with an animal I always set my intention.  Typically I go into a session with the general intention information exchanged serves the person and animals greatest good. If I know the animal/client the intention may be more specific to their personal experience.  What do you hope to learn from having a communication session with your companion? How do you want your communication session to impact you and your companies shared life experience? You don't have to tell anyone your intention but having and intention will greatly impact your end result (In all things!).

3. Talk
Communication is a two way street don't be afraid to talk, ask questions, and share. A good communicator will tell you things he or she couldn't have known no matter what you do or don't say. If you are trying to play the I want to see what s/he knows game with your communicator you are missing the point. I find the most successful communication sessions are a mutual sharing by both person and animal that brings them into alignment so they can move forward together positively impacting their shared experience.

Subscriber Question:

Where do your weekly messages from the animals we share our lives with come from?

Early in 2015 I starting sending weekly sentiments of love and inspiration to the inbox's of my email subscribers. These messages are signed from, your companion. I often have clients ask me if the messages are from a specific animal companion, but I purposefully use the word sentiments because the messages are not exact quotes from animals.  The messages are my written actualizations derived from a combination of the common thoughts, feelings, emotions, words, pictures, and energy animals send me when I connect and communicate with them.

What I love most about my weekly sentiments of love and inspiration from the animals we share our lives with, is how they offer a glimpse into animal consciousness. Each message is steeped in divine wisdom because animals have a way of living in alignment with truth and the universe that we have not yet cultivated. This fact leads me to believe the souls of our animal friends are far more evolved than we give them credit for. But, that's a blog post for another time.

I create the inspired weekly messages from your companion four or five at a time, once a month, and then I schedule them to be sent to your inbox every Monday morning. Isn't technology fabulous! Every Monday I receive replays from subscribers telling me how that particular message touched them. Those replies are what has made creating these weekly messages a true labor of love.
